Coaching and Consulting Qualifications:
- 36 years of coaching experience in USSR, Austria, Germany and USA.
- 1974-1988: Head Coach of USSR National Squad in singles figure skating
- 1988-1993: Head Coach at Dynamo Sports Club (one of the largest sports clubs in Russia)
- 1993-1997: Head Coach and Sports Director of Union Linz Sport Club (Austria)
- 1998-2004: Head Coach of the Bavarian Ice Sports Federation (Germany), coach of the German National Team
- Since 2005: Coach and Consultant at Twin Rinks Ice Sports Centre (Buffalo Grove, IL, USA)
Management
- 1995-1998: participation in work out of the ISU Development Program.
- 1997: Project Manager and Moderator of the First ISU World Coaches Seminar.
- 1998-2005: Vice President of the European Professional Skating Coaches Association (EPSA)
- 2000-2002: Chairman of the Coaches Commission of the German Federation.
Judging
- 1977-1992: Judge and referee for International competitions and judge for ISU Championships.
- 1982-1988: Judged European, World Championships and Olympic Games.
- 2006-2007: Technical Specialist in New International Judging System in USA
Alexander’s unique experience lies not only in his work as a coach, but also as a creator of rigorous and innovative development programmes for the clubs and National Squads. During his time as the Head Coach of the USSR team, Alexander trained and developed a number of promising young coaches who in their turn became mentors to World and Olympic-level skaters. The best coaches, who were prepared in that system within the period of 1979 – 1993:
- G.Zmievskaja - World and Olympic coach (nowadays works in USA)
- L.Maslukova - World coach (nowadays works in USA).
- R.Arutjunjan - World and Olympic coach (coached 5 times World Champion M.Kwan, 2006 Olympic medalist J.Buttle, 2007 World medalist M.Asada)
- S.Tchubenko-Folle - World and Olympic coach (coached and assisted in designing programs: Olympic champion 2006 S.Arakawa, 5 times World champion M.Kwan, 3 times USA champion J.Weir, 2007 World medalist M.Asada)
- M.Amirkhanova - World and Olympic coach (coach of World and European prize winner E.Ljashenko)
- E.Lutkov - World coach (nowadays works as a coach of Swedish National team)
Today Alexander is working in cooperation with ELITA Live team to help skating clubs and federations develop bespoke training programmes for coaches and athletes.
