Alexey’s research team conducted extensive study on all aspects of figure skating training, including physiology, psychology and biomechanics, collecting enormous amounts of data and scientific evidence to support the advancement of Soviet figure skating in 70s, 80s and 90s.
Alexey successfully applied his theoretical background to his coaching career, rapidly
achieving competition success with his Canadian students. He now continues to use this knowledge in his work with Russian squad skaters. His expertise and experience are highly sought after by skating clubs and schools around the world who frequently invite him to their camps and clinics as a guest expert coach.
“I was a competitive skater [when Alexei was doing his research work]... they followed us closely every day, taking blood samples, pulse readings, you name it! I don’t think many countries in the world did it as tenaciously as Soviet Union – this research is truly unique, invaluable; and we are lucky to have people like Alexei still working in the sport and being able to share that knowledge”
Yuri Bureiko, 1981 World Junior Silver Medallist, founder of ELITA Live
“It was fantastic to have people like Alexey come to the camp and share with us his training tips and advice. Our regular coaches are great, but you also need to see what everyone else is doing and to learn from them. If you want to stay on top, you really have to think broader and to learn from the best international people.”
Elliot Hilton, 2008 British Champion, ISS Summer Skating Camp 2007 Participant
