Description
Harness systems have a key role to play in training young skaters, and offer major benefits to coaches who use them. Harnesses can accelerate the learning process during the teaching of jumping skills. Used on the ice, they can save time and build students’ confidence and ability quickly by reducing the number and impact of hard landings and falls.
However, if your students are to get the most out of harness training, it’s vitally important that you, the coach, have a thorough understanding of the techniques and technologies used.
In this series of webinars, internationally-acclaimed skating coach Chris Conte deals with the basic use of off-ice and on-ice harness systems, including fixed, line, and pole-based types.
Although harnesses are great training tools, if they are used incorrectly students may not experience the full range of benefits they offer – and may even sustain injuries. During the webinars Chris presents a series of video examples and drills to help you develop your harness training skills quickly and safely.
As with all ELITA Live courses, Harness Systems 101 features a very high level of
interactivity. Questions, comments and discussion are all part of the training process – all you need to take part is a broadband internet connection and a phone. You can find out about the straightforward technical requirements and skills you need here.
